Accidental Gunshot Wound Leads to Arrest

On Friday, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at 5:06 pm. They responded to the scene near Mahoney Lake seven miles to the northeast of Ketchikan.

Oil Boom Deployed around Grounded Tug, Polar Wind, after Sheen Observed in the Water

Reports of an oil sheen in the water around the tug Polar Wind prompted the unified command consisting of the United States Coast Guard, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation , and Northland Services to repond to the site of the grounding 40 miles east of Cold Bay on Ukolnoi Island.

Governor Urges General Carlisle to Seek More Input on Aggressor Squadron Relocation

Department of Public Safety Academy Graduates 18 from Seven Different Agencies

(SITKA, Alaska) – Eighteen new law enforcement officers from five different state and municipal agencies graduated from the Department of Public Safety Training Academy in Sitka Friday. A graduation ceremony at the Sheet'Ka Kwaan Na'Kaa Hidi Building in Sitka ended the Alaska Law Enforcement Training (ALET) Session No. 12-02.
