BETHEL, ALASKA-27-year-old Charles Chaney of Bethel was convicted on Federal charges of a Felon in Possession of Firearms in Federal Court. The conviction took an Anchorage jury less than two hours. Chaney now faces a possible 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
Anchorage, Alaska – Superior Court Judge Eric Aarseth issued a 154-page decision in Nunamta Aulukestai v. State, finding that the State did not violate Article VIII of the Alaska Constitution in issuing temporary, revocable land and water use permits for mineral exploration at the Pebble Project.
WASHINGTON — New observations by NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE, show there are significantly fewer near-Earth asteroids in the mid-size range than previously thought. The findings also indicate NASA has found more than 90 percent of the largest near-Earth asteroids, meeting a goal agreed to with Congress in 1998.
