WASHINGTON-As fall approaches and the Environmental Protection Agency continues to conduct its scientific analysis of the proposed Pebble Mine in the Bristol Bay watershed, Democratic Washington Senator intends to request that that agency use the Clean Water Act to bring Pebble Mine to a halt if need be.

Sadr Calls On Followers to Stand Down Against U.S. Troops in Iraq

BAGDAD-In anticipation of the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, the anti-American cleric, Muqtada Sadr has ordered his followers to discontinue attacks on American forces in that country. U.S. troops are scheduled to leave at the end of this year under a 2008 agreement between Iraq and former president Bush.

Man Overboard 900 Miles Southeast of Kodiak

KODIAK, Alaska — The Coast Guard is searching for a crewman reported overboard from a 964-foot Korean-flagged container ship 900 miles southeast of Kodiak Island Saturday.
