Court Rules on Gay Military Ban

SAN FRANCISCO-The three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ordered the U.S. Government to immediately cease enforcing the ban on openly gay personnel in the military. This ends the 17 year old policy of discharging members of the military based on their sexual orientation.

Ice Maiden Capsizes in Prince William Sound

VALDEZ, Alaska – Personnel from Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Valdez responded to the capsizing and sinking of the fishing vessel Ice Maiden near Rocky Point in Prince William Sound Sunday and continue to monitor the response.

Mexico Announces the Capture of Notorious El Mamito

MEXICO CITY-Mexican authorities announced the capture of Jesus Rejon Aguilar, one of the original founders of the notorious Zeta drug cartel. He was captured just one hour northwest of Mexico City.

Jonesville Coal Mine Decision Stalled Because of Procedural Error

CHICKALOON-Procedural errors have stalled the development of the Jonesville coal mine near Chickaloon. The Department of Natural Resources had issued a permit allowing operations to begin at the Jonesville coal mine but has since withdrawn the permit.
