Bethel Man Indicted for Child Pornography, Arrested in South Carolina

image26-12-2014 09.10.21On Wednesday, an Anchorage Grand Jury indicted a Bethel man with 76 counts of distribution and possession of child pornography it was reported by the trooper dispatch.

The indictments against 37-year-old Bethel man, Gene Geisler, were the result of a year-long investigation carried out by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Technical Crimes Unit.

It was on August 7th, 2014 that the TC Unit, while “conducting a pro-active online investigation by searching the Internet for individuals located in Alaska who were distributing child pornography,” that investigators got a hit on the Bethel suspect, troopers report.

After identifying Geisler, investigators applied for, and received search warrants for Geisler’s place of employment at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp.  and his residence. Those warrants were carried out on September 9th, 2014, and produced “a large cache of hard drives, computers, and other electronic devices capable of storing images and video files,” investigators divulged.

The Technical Crimes Unit conducted forensic computer examinations on the devices that revealed that Geisler possessed and distributed child pornography, troopers state. Millions of images and over 13,000 videos were discovered on Geisler’s devices.

As a result of the indictment, an $200,000 arrest warrant was issued for Geisler’s arrest. Geisler was located and arrested in Goose Creek, South Carolina. He is being held at the Hill-Finkles Detention Center there pending extradition.
