Troopers responded to a collision on the Parks Highway near Vine Street on Wednesday evening and arrested a Trapper Creek man on DUI and Assault charges, the trooper dispatch reported on Thursday.
Authorities responded to the scene at 7:39 pm on Wednesday to find that 66-year-old Trapper Creek resident, Phillip Smith had hit a person riding a bike at that location. The bicyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision.
It was revealed that Smith was driving under the influence at the time of the incident, and so was arrested on DUI and Felony Assault III charges. He was transported to Palmer, where he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
Smith is due to appear in court at 1 pm today.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
