A call went in to troopers after a white Ford pickup crashed into the meridian on the Palmer Wasilla Highway Saturday morning.
Troopers responded to the gas station at the intersection of the Parks Highway and the Palmer Wasilla Highway and interviewed the caller at 5:14 am on Saturday morning.
The witness-caller reported that a white Ford F-150 was having problems steerigng straight and had ultimately crashed into the center meridian.
As a result of the caller’s information, troopers would contact the driver of the Ford and identify him as 42-year-old Raymond Pendergast Jr of Big Lake. Their investigation of Pendergast would find that he had been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested on DUI charges. Pendergast would later refuse to submit to a chemical test and so was charged with Refusal of Chemical Test. Pendergast was transported to the Mat Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there.
Pendergast’s bail was set at $10,000 plus a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
He was arraigned on the two charges on Sunday.
