The body found on Sunday, July 8th, outside of Brevig Mission has been identified as that of the Teller man who went missing eight months ago.
The body of 26-year-old Kyle Komok was found about one mile east of Brevig Mission by a resident of the community. Brevig Mission lies about six miles to the Northwest of Teller, the location that Komok was last seen riding his yellow four-wheeler during the storm on November 9th, 2011.

After being retrieved from the beach east of Brevig Mission, Komok’s body, still unidentified, went to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage. Komok was identified through his dental records.
According to the witnesses that last saw Komok the day of the storm at about 4 pm, he was riding through the surf along the spit as waves crashed over him. It was reported that the waves were almost tipping him over at that time.
Unsure if he had gone back to the village un-noticed, a house to house search was done for Komok in the community of 230 people.
It was discovered after the storm that the spit had been washed out by the tremendous surf and storm surge.
Searchers went out in boats to search the shoreline and through the drifting debris of the storm, but no sign was found of him.
