The body of a Marshal man missing on the Yukon River has been found according to trooper reports.
Paul Tinker was reported missing when he didn’t return from his boating trip in August. He was last seen the night of August 19th at about 11:30 pm. He was in his 21 foot Carolina skiff heading up the Yukon River. His destination was unknown.
On August 20th, Tinker’s skiff was found about a quarter mile down-river from the community of Marshal.

By the 21st of August, a large-scale search effort was underway for Tinker. The search was unsuccessful and so the next day, recovery efforts were initiated. Two specialized SONAR systems were brought in and utilized. Fish finders and drag equipment were also used to attempt to discover and recover Tinker’s remains.
The operation continued until the 25th, and when still unsuccessful, search and recovery efforts were called off.
After the official search was called off, Marshal residents continued to search for the man in an effort to seek closure.
On August 31st, a Saint Marys trooper out on patrol on the river found the 33-year-old Marshal man floating on the Yukon River. He was discovered downstream from the Yukon River village.
Although foul play isn’t expected in the death of Tinker, his remains were transported to the State’s Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
