Two days after car bombs went off near a Shi'ite procession in Baghdad, killing 12 people, two back-to-back bombs exploded in two other Shi'ite cities according to Iraqi officials.
Blasts from two roadside bombs rocked the city of Hillah in central Iraq Thursday targeting a Shi’ite procession taking place there, killing 33 and wounding an additional 166. SHops were shuttered and police cordoned off the area as they began to search vehicles in the area. The first explosion took place near an area set up to serve food to the pilgrims. The second blast took place near the same location after emergency personnel arrived at the area to attend to the injured and dead.

Another blast took place in the holy city of Karbala. This blast occurred under a bridge, kiilling ffive and injuring 13 more.
In addition to targeting Shi’ite pilgrims, another explosion, this one a suicide car bomb exploded near security forces on patrol west of Baghdad. That blast took the lives of three soldiers and wounding another three soldiers and four civilians.
In the northern part of the country, in Mosul, another car bomb took the lives of a policeman and a civilian.
These newest attacks bring this month’s death toll estimate to 152.
