Dr. Alisha Drabek, a Kodiak resident, community educator, and one of the first Alutiiq second language speakers of her generation, has been selected to lead the Alutiiq Museum.
The Alutiiq Museum will receive $35,000 from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation to create educational resources on Alutiiq weaving. Funds from the foundation’s Arts and Culture Program will support the development of an exhibit on Alutiiq weaving and an educational booklet to accompany it.
The museum's board and staff announced that Dr. Sven Haakanson, Jr., will resign from his position as the Executive Director of the Alutiiq Museum in June 2013 to pursue new professional opportunities.
