Carnival Reaches Agreement with EPA on ECA, Parnell says it Will Impose Costs on Alaskans

On Friday, Governor Parnell released a statement after the announcement by Carnival Corporation that it had reached an agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency to spend $180 million to add exhaust cleaning technology to 32 of its ships to reduce air pollution and conform with EPA Emission Control Area standards.

Two Overdue Hunters Near Kalgin Island Located by Coast Guard Helicopter

Two hunters reported overdue from a hunting trip on Kalgin Island near Kenai on Thursday morning were located by a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter later in the day according to a Coast Guard press release.

Defense attorneys for Jodi Arias had submitted a motion to the judge in the case, Judge Sherry Stephens, to set aside the Arizona jury's determination that Arias killed Travis Alexander in an "especially cruel manner," which would make he eligible for the death sentence. Their request was denied.
