House Bill Passes Allowing Arming of VPSOs

Juneau, Alaska – The Alaska House of Representatives today passed a bill by Rep. Bryce Edgmon to allow Village Public Safety Officers, or VPSOs, to carry firearms. House Bill 199 establishes the Legislature’s clear intent that VPSOs should have all the tools they need as law enforcement officers to carry out their duties.

House Acts to Extend Senior Benefits Programs

Juneau, Alaska – Legislation to extend a needs-based senior benefit program passed the Alaska House of Representatives Wednesday. House Bill 263, sponsored by Rep. Mike Hawker, extends the Senior Benefits Program through 2021, adding six years to its sunset.

Sustainable Education Task Force Releases Draft Recommendations
