Anchorage police are reporting that they have seized packages of heroin and cocaine after a call from an Anchorage Motel Six reporting a package delivered to a client who had already checked out of the motel.
It is reported that the motel had received two packages for 27-year-old California man, Markee Allen, who had previously checked out of the motel. Then, on Wednesday, an additional package arrived.
Police say that they contacted and arrested the California man after he returned to the motel, checked back in, and attempted to retrieve the packages from the motel personnel. Drug-sniffing canines had been brought in and the dogs had indicated that the packages contained drugs. Police obtained a search warrant for the packages as well as Allen’s vehicle, cell phone and motel room.
Police would find that Allen had in his possession, a handgun. Allen would later tell police, when interviewed that he received the handgun for protection from an acquaintance in Anchorage.
Police estimate the street value of the drugs to be approximately $400,000.
