The Anchorage Police Department is seeking a suspect in a Friday afternoon stolen vehicle case where the suspect drove off with a vehicle from the Abbott Road Tesoro station with two children in the vehicle.
The suspect, described as a tall, thin black male in his 40s, drove away, but soon ditched the vehicle investigators report. Patrol officers and a K9 unit responded and immediately began to track the vehicle. It was soon found with both children safe, and still in the back seat.
A short time later, police received a tip that a subject fitting the suspect’s description got into a large, gold, late-model SUV, that they say may have been a Chevy Trailblazer or GMC Jimmy, and drove away. Police say “The vehicle is described to have some heavier wear and tear and slight damage to the body. No plate numbers have been identified.”[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]Police advise that this incident “serves as a valuable reminder to never leave your vehicle running unattended, never leave your keys in your vehicle, and to keep your little ones close.” APD also asks that “If you see a vehicle matching this description around Anchorage occupied by someone who matches the suspect description, call 9-1-1 immediately. If you see the vehicle but it is unoccupied, call non-emergency dispatch at 3-1-1.”
