Obama Signs Defense Spending Bill Despite Reservations

WASHINGTON– President Barack Obama signed the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act Saturday, while acknowledging “serious reservations” about parts of the act, particularly provisions that regulate the detention, interrogation, and prosecution of suspected terrorists.

Two Lummi Indians Charged with First Degree Murder in Stabbing Death of Another Lummi Tribal Member

BELLINGHAM, Washington-First degree murder charges have been leveled against two members of the Lummi tribe for the murder of a third tribal member. According to court documents, the murder occurred on Lummi Tribal Trust land near Bellingham on December 17th.

U.S. Agrees to Sell 84 F-15 Fighter Jets to Saudi Arabia

WASHINGTON D.C.-U.S. Officials announced yesterday that the United States would sell 84 new F-15SA fighter jets and upgrades for 70 existing aircraft to Saudi Arabia for nearly $29.4 billion. The upgrades include munitions, spare parts, training, maintenance and logistics. The aircraft are produced by the Boeing Company.

Former Navajo Police Department Officer Indicted in New Mexico on Civil Rights Charges

WASHINGTON – A federal grand jury in Albuquerque, N.M., yesterday indicted a former police officer with the Navajo Police Department on charges related to the sexual abuse of a woman who was in his custody on Jan. 25, 2009, announced the Department of Justice.
