WASHINGTON, Jan. 3, 2014 – Marines evacuated about 20 U.S. Embassy staff members from the deteriorating security situation in Juba, South Sudan, on the same day the State Department announced it will add $49.8 million to humanitarian assistance the United States has provided to help victims of the conflict there.
The United Nations announced in a statement over the weekend that unstable security, logistical problems and bad weather will likely delay the move of Syria's chemical weapons out of the country. The weapons were due to be transported out by December 31st.
A second blast tore through a trolley bus in Volgograd on Monday, coming only hours before a similar blast on Sunday, Monday's blast prompted Russia's president, Vladimir Putin to step the country's anti-terrorism security units throughout the country.
