Juneau, Alaska – The Alaska House of Representatives today passed a bill by Rep. Bryce Edgmon to allow Village Public Safety Officers, or VPSOs, to carry firearms. House Bill 199 establishes the Legislature’s clear intent that VPSOs should have all the tools they need as law enforcement officers to carry out their duties.
JUNEAU – Thursday, Representative Les Gara (D-Anchorage) released a report showing that, in order to avoid cutting educators a fourth year in a row, Alaska’s six largest school districts need an increase of roughly four times more per-pupil funding next year than the Governor has proposed.
