Buckland Man Sentenced for Attempted Murder of Buckland Village Police Officer

The Buckland man convicted of the attempted murder of village police officer Lorin B Geary received a sentence of 50 years with 20 years suspended after a six-hour hearing on Monday.

A snow machine traveler heading to Stony River from Lime Village suffered an accident on the trail on Monday and suffered injuries to his head but was able to make it to safety despite his injuries.

Murkowski Urges Expansion of Tribal Self-Governance over Public Lands in Alaska

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Lisa Murkowski on Wednesday called on the National Park Service and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to recommit themselves to advocate and advance self-governance agreements with Alaska’s regional tribal organizations in order to strengthen Alaska Native participation in the management of public lands surrounding their communities.

Alaska Station to Purchase Equipment to Improve Service to Native Communities

BETHEL, Alaska, Jan. 28, 2014 – USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Patrice Kunesh today announced investments in rural telecommunications infrastructure and equipment to expand access to education and economic development for rural residents. Kunesh made the announcement on Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack’s behalf during a visit to Alaska.
