FAIRBANKS-At three o’clock in the morning, Wednesday, July 13th, Alaska State troopers in Fairbanks received a call from Allakaket of a person shot with a shotgun in the leg. After arriving in Allakaket, investigation revealed that during a scuffle that night, while fighting for control of a shotgun, it discharged striking Joseph Semaken.
JUNEAU, Alaska – Sealaska Corporation has found an ancient, partially carved Haida canoe on forested land it owns near the Organized Village of Kasaan on Prince of Wales Island.
ANCHORAGE-Ed Herndon, CEO of Chugach Alaska Corporation submitted his resignation today as he stepped down from one of the largest Native corporations in the state. The company stated that he had resigned to pursue other career opportunities. No other details were given for his departure.
FAIRBANKS-Doyon, the for-profit corporation for Alaska Natives in the interior Alaska region, is the state's largest private land-owner with 12.5 million acres. The corporation serves 18,000 shareholders in Alaska. Doyon is in the top ten Alaskan owned businesses, and owns more than a dozen businesses in the state and across the nation.
