FAIRBANKS-Doyon, the for-profit corporation for Alaska Natives in the interior Alaska region, is the state's largest private land-owner with 12.5 million acres. The corporation serves 18,000 shareholders in Alaska. Doyon is in the top ten Alaskan owned businesses, and owns more than a dozen businesses in the state and across the nation.
ALASKA-Two small planes collided mid-air over Lake Clark Pass at 2,300 feet on Sunday afternoon, but were able to land safely in Anchorage after the incident. Neither pilot saw the other until the impact was imminent. No one was injured in the accident.
CHICKALOON-Procedural errors have stalled the development of the Jonesville coal mine near Chickaloon. The Department of Natural Resources had issued a permit allowing operations to begin at the Jonesville coal mine but has since withdrawn the permit.
KODIAK, Alaska – The Coast Guard suspended the search for a fisherman who fell overboard off a 24-foot fishing vessel near Goodnews Bay 97 miles south of Bethel Monday at 4:45 p.m.
