Yukon Gold Closes Doors Because of Shortened Season

KALTAG, ALASKA-Yukon River Gold LLC has announced the suspension of fish buying operations this summer in the remote Alaskan village of Kaltag, pending review for a permanent closure of the facility. This closure results in elimination of 70 jobs this summer, in this remote village of less than 800 people, where jobs are scarce.

Allakaket Man Suffers Gunshot Blast at Late Night Party

FAIRBANKS-At three o’clock in the morning, Wednesday, July 13th, Alaska State troopers in Fairbanks received a call from Allakaket of a person shot with a shotgun in the leg. After arriving in Allakaket, investigation revealed that during a scuffle that night, while fighting for control of a shotgun, it discharged striking Joseph Semaken.

Sealaska Finds an Ancient Canoe Near Kasaan

CEO of Chugach Alaska Corp Resigns

ANCHORAGE-Ed Herndon, CEO of Chugach Alaska Corporation submitted his resignation today as he stepped down from one of the largest Native corporations in the state. The company stated that he had resigned to pursue other career opportunities. No other details were given for his departure.
