State Wins Lawsuit Challenging The Constitutionality Of State Mineral Exploration Permits

Anchorage, Alaska – Superior Court Judge Eric Aarseth issued a 154-page decision in Nunamta Aulukestai v. State, finding that the State did not violate Article VIII of the Alaska Constitution in issuing temporary, revocable land and water use permits for mineral exploration at the Pebble Project.

Trident Seafoods Pay $2.5 Million Penalty For Clean Water Act Violations

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) today announced that Trident Seafoods Corp., one of the world’s largest seafood processors, has agreed to pay a $2.5 million civil penalty and invest millions in seafood processing waste controls to settle alleged violations of the Clean Water Act (CWA).

Nunamta Aulukestai Loses As Judge Sides With Pebble Mine And State

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA-Judge Eric Aarseth, of the Superior Court in Anchorage, ruled on Monday, on a 2009 case, that the State of Alaska was not required to give public notice before issuing exploratory permits for the Pebble project site, nor was it required to study the potential impacts of the activities at that site.

Begich Asks VA To Detail Alaska Efforts To Combat Homelessness
