Begich, Young Respond To Environmental Impact Statement for Chukchi Sea Oil And Gas Sale

Alaska's Supreme Court Allows Save Our Salmon Initiative

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA-The Alaska Supreme Court ruled Wednesday to allow the "Save Our Salmon" initiative to be placed on the Lake and Peninsula Borough's October 4th ballot. This follows a decision made by Dillingham Superior Court Judge John Suddock also allowing the initiative to proceed.

Supercub Crashes Near Mouth of Seal River, Two Missing

CORDOVA, ALASKA-At approximately 2:45 Tuesday afternoon, an Alaska Wildlife trooper flying a routine patrol near the mouth of the Seal River observed aircraft wreckage washing up on the beach. After landing to investigate, it was identified as a PA-18-150 Piper Supercub, it appeared that it had recently crashed and there were no occupants aboard.

Calista Corporation Sells the Last Of Six Newspapers

ANCHORAGE-Calista Corporation, the Alaska native Regional Corporation, serving the native peoples of Southwest Alaska, has announced that it has sold the last of its six newspapers. Calista Corp previously announced this summer that it was liquidating all six newspapers, and since then, has recently entered into deals to sell the previous four.
