A report went in to the Alaska State Troopers from Chuathbaluk at 1:12 pm on Thursday of an assault on an adult female from that village.
It was reported that the woman had just been assaulted at a Church Street residence by an intoxicated man.
The man was identified as 28-year-old Randy Lee Peterson of Chuathbaluk. According to the troopers, Peterson is on active felony probation. His probation conditions for Assault III stated no possession or drinking of alcohol.
Alaska State Troopers responded to the village and investigated the incident. Their investigation determined that the woman had in fact been assaulted by Peterson. Troopers went to contact him at his residence.

At his residence, they had found that Peterson had barricaded himself in his home. They talked through the door to Peterson. Peterson refused to cooperate.
At 7:20 pm, Peterson came out of his residence. When he emerged, he had a large knife in his possession which he waved aggressively at the troopers as he advanced on them.
Peterson continued to resist as troopers subdued him. After arresting Peterson, he was transported to Aniak where he was remanded to the Aniak State Trooper Post until his arraignment.
Peterson was charged with Assault III-DV, Assault III-Police Officer, three counts of Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, and Felony Probation Violation.
