JUNEAU, Alaska — The crew of a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Sitka medevaced an injured man from Port Alexander to Sitka Tuesday.
Coast Guard District 17 watchstanders were notified at 12:25 p.m. that a 38-year-old man reportedly suffered back injuries after falling from scaffolding.
The crew of the Jayhawk arrived in Port Alexander at 3:10 p.m. and safely delivered the man to Sitka emergency medical personnel for further treatment at the Sitka Community Hospital by 4:09 p.m.
The Air Station Sitka flight surgeon recommended the Jayhawk be used in lieu of commercial transportation due to the space necessary for moving someone with a back injury.
