On Monday morning at approximately 6:45 am the United States Coast Guard contacted the Alaska State Troopers and reported that a death had occurred on a fishing vessel based out of Cordova.

The Coast Guard is investigating the death as deaths aboard vessels are considered a “serious marine incident.”
According to the report, 34-year-old Sean Johnson died aboard the F/V Northern Mariner sometime between midnight and 5:30 am. He was a crewmember aboard the vessel.
The fishing boat continued to the port in Cordova, transporting Johnson’s remains for examination by the State Medical Examiner in Anchorage. In an effort to find the cause of death, an autopsy will be performed there.
Next of kin has been notified and the investigation continues.
