For the second time in five days, a crew-member has been hit by a cable when it snapped during operations.
According to reports, Franz Dalquen was struck by a broken cable aboard the “Alaska Ocean.” on Monday.Dalquen was knocked unconscious for a period of about five minutes.
The United States Coast Guard was notified of the incident and dispatched to the scene, they retrieved Dalquen and transported him to Cold Bay. From Cold Bay, Dalquen was transported by air ambulance to Anchorage, where he was treated for his injury.
According to Chief Petty Officer Sean Terry, Dalquen’s head was quite swollen from the strike.
The “Alaska Ocean” is owned by Glacier Fish Company of Seattle.
