A Delaware man is now out on bail after posting $4,500 for narcotics, resisting arrest and Child Endangerment charges after his arrest last week.
25-year-old Michael Penn had an arrest warrant issued after stealing various items from a Verizon store. The store’s video system recorded Penn stealing a Samsung Tablet and another item from the popular outlet.
When New Castle police located Penn, he was walking with his two young children and carrying an eight-month-old son. As police contacted him, they ordered him to put the child down, he initially refused. But, Penn eventually complied and proceeded to put the child down, but before he did, he secreted something away into the toddler’s diaper.
Penn was arrested on the warrant, soon, officers saw an item not quite tucked away in the child’s diaper. When police checked what the man had put down his baby’s diaper, they would find 16 baggies of heroin. The baggies had such names as “Bioshock,” and “Death” stamped onto them. This discovery prompted further charges.
Penn apologized for his actions as police investigated the contents of the diaper sayinghe was sorry and did it because he was scared.
The three children were turned over to Penn’s grandmother and family services was notified.
