Joey Paul, no relation to the three men involved in a boat fire in Egegik on the early morning hours of the Fourth of July, died the same day after falling into the hold of of a fishing vessel in Chignik Lagoon Thursday.
Paul is the third person to die in a fishing vessel accident on Thursday.

Alaska State Troopers were notified of the death of Joey Paul at 9:40 pm on Thursday evening after he succumbed to his injuries after falling in the drive shaft area aft of the vessel’s engine room.
After his fall, Paul was transported to the Chignik Lagoon clinic. He was pronounced deceased there.
The State Examiner’s office in Anchorage was notified of Paul’s death and his remains were requested tranferred there for autopsy.
The next of kin was notifed.
No foul play is suspected in Pauls death.
Thursday was a fatal day for two other commercial fishermen. Early Thursday morning, Harberg Paul of Egegik perished in a vessel fire at a dock in Egegik. Harberg’s two brothers, Joe and Paul were injured in the fire as well. Later in the morning a Wisconsin man, Lewis Byerly died when he was caught up in an anchor winch while pulling anchor aboard the Anna Lane in Cook Inlet north of Ninilchik.
