NIKISKI-Monday night at approximately 9:55 pm, the Kenai Police Department received a REDDI(Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report of a vehicle northbound on the Kenai Spur Highway.
Further investigation found that the vehicle owner, Josh ushner, age 32, was also wanted on a federal arrest warrent in connection to firearms offenses.
Alaska State Troopers found the reported vehicle outside of a Nikiski residence a short time later. When troopers attempted to contact the residence’s occupants, an unknown person let loose a dog from a doorway.

The dog charged the troopers. One trooper, sprayed the animal with pepper spray, moving to avoid the dog. The second trooper drew his pistol and shot the attacking dog in the head, firing three rounds. The first trooper sustained minor injuries in the fall taken when avoiding the charging dog.
The dog ran from the area., but was later found. The dog survived the incident and was taken to a local veterinarian by people who knew the dog’s owner.
The investigation into the incident is still on-going.
