The fire, that is burning south of the Tanana River, is in a limited management option area and BLM-Alaska Fire Service continues to monitor the situation and surveillance flights continue daily.
The fire, located 18 miles south of North Pole and 25 miles south of Fairbanks, was initiated on June 23 by a lightening strike.
The Hodzana fire located at the Hodzana Slough, unlike the Dry Creek Fire is in a full management option area, it was reported by commercial aircraft on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. That fire, 14 miles west of Beaver was a possible threat to structures, so eight smoke jumpers were dispatched to that blaze.
The Hodzana fire is now considered contained and four of the smoke jumpers have demobilized. The remaining four were expected to leave the scene as well yesterday afternoon. There is no report as to whether they have or not.
