HOPE, Alaska-Alaska State troopers reported yesterday that on Friday they responded to an incident involving an electrical lineman near mile 1.5 of the Hope Highway.
On December 16th, troopers were notified that Gary Griffith, an electrical lineman, had fell 16 feet into a ravine while working to restore power caused by a downed electrical line on a mountain near the Hope Highway. The fall had caused injury to Griffith’s chest. He had landed on a stump.
Due to the nature of the terrain, a National Guard helicopter was dispatched to the scene. Griffith had fallen into a ravine with 90 degree cliffs. Troopers, U.S. Forest Service officers, Moose Pass and Cooper Landing EMS traveled to the scene on snow machines to assist and provide first aid to Griffith.
Griffith was successfully loaded into the helicopter and transported to Providence Hospital and treated for his injuries.
