After a dog bite and attack, a canine in the community of Emmonak was shot and killed by the responding trooper on Friday, according to the trooper report.
On Friday afternoon, troopers in Emmonak responded to a report of a dog bite incident in the village. The dog was located, and the trooper advised the dog’s owner to keep the canine restrained.
When the trooper went back to the residence a short time later to follow up, he found that the dog was still unleashed. When the trooper approached, the dog “acted aggressive toward the responding trooper,” it was reported. The trooper placed his foot up to stop the dog’s advances, but when the dog charged a second time, the trooper shot the animal.
The dog’s “remains were collected, and sent to YKHC in Bethel for a rabies exam,” troopers report.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
