Aniak based State Troopers responded to the village at 9:30 am and began an investigation into the incident.

The investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Michael Hetherington, after he admitted to being drunk at a party with his wife and punching her three times in the head in an attempt to knock her out after disapproving of the way she was behaving. He said after punching her he drove her home.
Hetherington told troopers that after arriving home, he still needed to “blow off steam,” and so retrieved his .45 caliber handgun and fired about fifty rounds into the windshield, tires, engine and body of his SUV.
State troopers siezed Hetherington’s weapon and transported him to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correcctional Complex in Bethel on charges of DV Assault IV, and two counts Misconduct Involving Weapons IV.
He will be arraigned at the Bethel courthouse this afternoon.
