Anchorage escapee, 45-year-old Elizabeth Nesbitt, who had escaped from custody while housed at the Midtown Halfway House three weeks earlier on March 21st, was captured after committing another crime on West Northern Lights Boulevard on Monday, Anchorage police revealed on Tuesday.
APD had obtained a felony arrest warrant for Nesbitt after she walked away from the halfway house on March 21 where she was held on a recent conviction for Trespassing and Theft.
Then, at 10:57 pm on Monday, APD dispatch received a call from a woman at Taco king at 113 West Northern Lights Boulevard reporting that she had been robbed at knifepoint while waiting at a nearby bus stop. The victim told police dispatch that she was at the Northern Lights and A bus stop when the suspect walked up to her with a knife demanding the groceries she was carrying.
Armed with a description of the suspect, a responding officer spotted Nesbitt walking nearby and stopped and detained her. When patted down, two knives were found on her person.
After the victim confirmed that Nesbitt was the suspect who held her up, Nesbitt was transported to the Anchorage Jail and remanded there on Robbery I and Assault III charges and the felony warrant.
