OSLO-Police moved to lock down a major portion of Oslo's city center after explosions rocked the area today. The massive explosions shattered windows in the Government tower that houses the offices of the Norwegian Prime Minister as well as those of other government buildings in the area. A car bomb is suspected as the source of the explosion. Whether there was a second explosion site is still unconfirmed.

The bombs have killed two people, and officials there expect that number to rise as the investigation continues. Norwegian television is airing footage showing the wreckage of a vehicle at the heart of the explosion, citing it may be where one of the explosions originated.

A short time after the explosions in Oslo, a person dressed as a police officer gave police identification and gained access to a summer camp for young members of the ruling party. The man stated that he was doing a routine check in connection to the terror attack in Oslo. Upon entry, the man opened fire on the youth at the camp, five people are confirmed injured in that attack. According to authorities, that gunman is in custody.

Will McCants, an analyst for CNA a terrorism research institute has announced that the terror group, Ansar al-Jihad al -Alami, or the Helpers of the Global Jihad, quickly claimed responsibility for the attacks. He claims the message stated the country’s involvement in Afganistan and insults to the Prophet Muhammad led to the attacks. They also state that they had warned of further attacks since the Stockholm raid.
