Following the conclusion of a six-month-long investigation into sex-trafficking and street level prostitution in the Fairbanks and Anchorage areas by investigators with the Special Crime Unit, Fairbanks-based troopers and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation arrested a Fairbanks man on sex crimes on Tuesday.
35-year-old Benjamin Bane was arrested in his Fairbanks motel room on Tuesday on an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant was issued after “an Anchorage Grand Jury returned a seven count indictment for Sexual Assault 1st (x2), Sex Trafficking 1st, Sex Trafficking 2nd and Sex Trafficking 3rd (x3),” the trooper dispatch revealed.
Troopers say that Bane committed several crimes against an adult female, that included “sexual assault and sex trafficking. The acts included violence and illegal narcotics use,” according to the trooper report.
Bane was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Facility and held there on $200,000 bail.
Investigators say that other potential victims have been identified and the investigation is continuing.
