After receiving a call of a shooting at a residence on Tungsten Trail in Fairbanks at 12:16 am on Sunday morning, troopers responded to find a man there dead from a gunshot wound.
Troopers identified the victim as 29-year-old Fairbanks resident Tommy Patton. He was declared dead at the scene. Troopers also retrieved the weapon used in the shooting.
Troopers also identified the suspect in the shooting, who said dring a trooper interview, that the shooting was in self defense. Troopers were able to ascertain that the victim and the shooter knew each other. Even though the shooter said the shooting was in self defense, the troopers are treating the shooting as a homicide. He has not been arrested in the incident.
The incident is still under investigaiton.
