Alaska State Troopers received a call reporting a shooting in Fairbanks Wednesday night.
The call to the troopers came in about 8:46 pm.

Troopers responded to the report and went to an apartment complex in the University West area in Fairbanks.
When they arrived, they found two gunshot victims. Their investigation revealed that the gunman shot Philip Villa, then turned the weapon on himself. The gunman, 20-year-old Christopher Carter, inflicted a severe chest wound on himself.
Both men were transported to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital to be treated for their injuries.Carter died at the hospital on Thursday morning. Villa was transported to Seattle, his condition is reported as stable.
The investigation into the incident is continuing according to the trooper report. It is not known if the initial gunshot was accidental or intentional as authorities have not yet been able to fully interview the victim.
