A call went in to the Alaska State Troopers dispatch in Fairbanks late last night reporting an armed man threatening to harm his family.
The call came in from Anderson at 10:33 pm. Because of the information initially related in the call, the Northern Special Emergency Reaction Team was activated to respond to the scene.
The family was able to escape the house before the SERT Team arrived however.

Patrol troopers managed to establish phone contact with the man identified as 38-year-old Ronald Shepard, and a perimeter was set up around the house. Negotiations began with the armed Shepard and talks continued until 2:47 am this morning. At that time, troopers were able to convince Shepard to surrrender peacefully.
After Shepard exited the house unarmed, he was taken into custody and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
No one was injured in the incident.
Shepard was charged with Domestic Violence Assault III and Misconduct Involving Weapons for being in possession of a weapon while under the influence of either alcohol or drugs.
