A Nikiski man was arrested and jailed after a false report on the Kenai Spur Highway after a traffic stop during the early morning hours of Friday.
Troopers report that they pulled over the driver, identified as 38-year-old Nikiski resident Ronald Finch, who was behind the wheel of a 1999 GMC Jimmy for a moving violation at 12:12 am Friday morning. A quick check by troopers found that he had a revoked driver’s license.
Finch, the sole occupant of the vehicle, told the troopers at the scene that he “was driving because his girlfriend was in labor and it was an emergency,” troopers reported. Upon hearing this, troopers contacted the Nikiski Fire Department, who immediately responded to his girlfriend’s residence. They found that the woman was not in labor, nor did she need any type of medical assistance.
Further investigation of Finch found that he was required to have an ignition interlock device installed in any vehicle he drove. He did not.
Finch was arrested on DWLR, Driving in Violation of Limited OL, and False Report. He was transported to Kenai where he was remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility with his bail set at $1,500.
His uninsured vehicle was towed from the scene by JenWar Towing troopers say.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
