Florida cops have been using an Easter Bunny costume as a disguise to bust beltless drivers.
It’s reported that West Palm Beach police are using bunny costumes as cover to target beltless drivers. They have been spotted at intersections, suited up and sporting sign that read, “Have a safe, hoppy holiday. Buckle up!” What the motorists don’t know, however, is that underneath that costume, are Palm Beach police officers that are keeping a lookout for motorists not wearing their seatbelts.
The officers, when they spy a motorist that isn’t buckled up, radio ahead to a unit that is waiting to stop the motorist as they drive into their area.
A similar operation was tried in California in 2010, but was quickly shut down. Palm Beach police have been very successful in their operation however.
Rule of thumb, you can’t even trust the Easter Bunny.
