Alaska State Troopers reported on Wednesday that they had arrested a Kotzebue-born man on Sexual Abuse of a Minor charges for incidences that occurred in the community of Wales.
It was on August 22nd, that troopers received reports of sexual abuse of a minor from Wales. Troopers responded and conducted an investigation that revealed that 43-year-old Amos Oxereok, who was presently working in Koyuk, had sexually abused a young girl while working as a Teacher’s Aide in the community.
Following the initial report, other young girls came forward and implicated Oxereok in further cases of sexual abuse.
On Tuesday, troopers arrested Oxereok in Koyuk, where he was working as a Technology Specialist for the Bering Strait School District, and charged him with four counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor II and one count of Harassment II-Offensive Physical Contact. Oxereok is due to be arraigned on the charges at 1:30 pm Thursday afternoon in the Nome Courthouse.
