Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell has ordered all flags (in accordance with Public Law 107-89) at public facilities be flown at half-staff throughout Alaska on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, in observance of Patriot Day.
It’s a day our nation remembers those who lost their lives and loved ones during the terrorist attacks on our country.

“Patriot Day is a time we reflect and honor the innocent lives that tragically ended when America came under attack by terrorists on September 11, 2001,” Governor Parnell said. “Our hearts were heavy on the days that followed, yet from that horrific attack came countless acts of bravery and kindness. America grew stronger and more vigilant, but Americans will also never forget the sacrifices made by so many, and how we rose as a nation to defend our shores.”
Flags will remain at half-staff on Tuesday in honor and memory of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Flags will be raised to full-staff at sunset.
Governor Parnell has signed a proclamation designating Tuesday as September 11th Commemoration Day. The proclamation is available here.
