In a startling revelation on Friday morning, Alaska governor Bill Walker released a press release announcing that he is been diagnosed with a treatable form of prostate cancer.
In the press release the governor said, “Donna and I recently learned that I have prostate cancer. As my doctor has advised, I will have surgery in December to remove the cancer. It is anticipated I will need no further treatment post-surgery. This diagnosis has not and will not impair my ability to perform my duties as governor. I want to emphasize that I had no symptoms, and it was only through a regular checkup that this diagnosis was made.”
Gov. Walker also urged Alaskans to schedule regular checkups to ensure early detection and treatment.
Earlier today, the governor’s office released a media advisory in order to answer further questions in regards to today’s announcement. It will be held in the governor’s cabinet room on the 17th floor of the Atwood building located at 550 W. 7th Ave. in Anchorage. It will be held at 1:30 PM this afternoon.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
