Alaska State Troopers report that the aircraft that crashed at Tikchik Lake has been found.
Troopers report that the aircraft, a 1944 G-44 Grumman Widgeon was found in 40 feet of water at the bottom of Tikchik Lake at about 6 pm on Tuesday.

It is believed that the pilot, 71-year-old Albert Newton Ball of Dillingham was the only person aboard the amphibious aircraft when it went down.
Efforts to locate the pilot will resume today.
Murky water conditions hampered search efforts on Monday. Additional searchers, made up of Wildlife and state troopers, State Parks personnel and local volunteers, and a donated sonar unit helped with the search yesterday.
The aircraft crashed on the lake on Sunday. The crash was wittnessed by a guide and a hunter that was with him at the time. They reported that the aircraft was attempting to land when it touched down and flipped on the lake. The aircraft was landing to pick up the two people who witnessed the crash. The hunter reported that the aircraft made several passes then attempted to land when its wing clipped the surface of the water and the aircraft broke apart and sank.
