The Soldotna Dispatch of the Alaska State Troopers received a call of an electrocution at 4:35 pm on Wednesday. The call came in from the Homer Electric Association after they received a call from one of their crews working in the field.
HEA related to the troopers in Soldotna that a crew working near Timmerman Court, in the Diamond Ridge area, had initially radioed in but further contact had been disrupted when the caller moved away from the vehicle, making further communication impossible.
Kachemak Emergency Services and the Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene in Homer and contacted the electrocution victim as well as spoke with several employees present. LifeMed was put on standby.
At the scene, 33-year-old Jacob Adams, the victim, was conscious and alert but had suffered significant injuries from the mishap. Adams’ fellow workers had administered immediate life-saving care after the incident. KES transported Adams to the South Peninsula Hospital where he was stabilized before he was further transported directly to Seattle for further medical care aboard a LifeMed aircraft.
Adams had been injured while working on a high-voltage junction box in the Timmerman area.
No other HEA employees suffered any injuries in the incident.
