At 8:44 pm Monday night, Alaska State Trooper Dispatch in Soldotna was notified of a Fatal crash at mile 72.5 of the Sterling Highway.
As a result of a head-on collision as he was traveling northbound, 52-year-old Richard Price of Michigan died at the scene. His wife, 58-year-old Diana Price, a passenger in the vehicle, a 2012 Nissan Versa, was flown by Life med helicopter to Central Peninsula hospital with serious injuries.
The two occupants of the other vehicle, a 2011 Chevy Equinox, also sustained minor injuries. Both Joshua Millstein, age 27, and his passenger, Rosa Gonzales, age 30, both from Florida, were transported to Central Peninsula Hospital and treated for their injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation by officers on the scene, Millstein’s vehicle, the Chevy Equinox, drifted into the northbound lane and struck the vehicle driven by Price. The investigation into the crash is continuing. It is reported all involved were wearing their seat belts.
The accident scene was closed for a time as the investigation was conducted and traffic was diverted around Skilak Lake Road.
Next of kin have been notified.
