The attorney for Herman Cain, one of this election cycle's presidential candidates, asked yesterday for the phone records of Ginger White. White, on Tuesday stated publicly that her and Cain had carried on a 13 year affair that was broken off just prior to Herman Cain casting his hat into the ring for the presidential nomination.
Lin Wood, Cain’s attorney has said that the the accuser of the presidential candidate most likely was texting and calling Cain for money. Phone records show that there were approximately 70 text messages between Herman Cain and Ginger White from October 22nd and November 18th. Many were made late at night or early in the morning. Wood, in an interview said, “Maintain common sense, Mr. Cain was extremely busy in his campaign. He didn’t have time to send a lot of texts.”
Cain disputes Ginger White’s allegations and said that she is “troubled.” He has also asserted that he is a victim of “direct character assassination.” stating that he doesn’t know where these latest accusations are coming from.
Cain has mentioned that the allegations that have been coming to light in the recent weeks has had an emotional toll on his wife and that he needs to place his family first as he decides whether to continue the race or bow out.
He also has pointed the finger at Democrats, hinting that the accusations have liberal origins. He went on to say, “I can only conjecture that maybe I am the Democrats’ worst nightmare if I win the nomination,” he says that perhaps the Democrats would rather have Newt Gingrich as the presidential nominee of the Republican party.
White has called her relationship with Cain as “very casual,” but says she is very disappointed with his characterization of her. She went on to say that she was not about to say anything negative about Cain but that she didn’t think that he should be president.
When Cain was asked about any decision to quit the race, he said, “A week from now, I will have made a final decision.”
