Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell on Thursday announced Homer will host the 2013 Governor’s Traveling Family Picnic. The Homer picnic will be held on July 25 at the Karen Hornaday Park.

Starting last summer, a community outside of Fairbanks, the Mat-Su, Anchorage and Juneau is selected to host an annual picnic. Alaskan communities make applications and submit overviews of how their community would plan and carry out the picnic.

The Governor’s Family Picnics are made possible by the generous donations from Alaska businesses and hundreds of volunteers.
